6.1 Intended use. This smoke pot is intended for use in training troops.
6.2 Ordering data. Procurement documents should specify the following:
(a) Title, number, and date of this specification.
(b) Preproduction.
(1) Time allowed for supplier submission of samples for
Government test and evaluation after award of contract.
(2) Name and address of test facility and shipping instructions
when testing is performed by the Government.
(3) Time required for the Government to notify the supplier
whether or not to proceed with regular production.
(c) The R10-1- Inspection Standard, Smoke Pot, Oil, SGF2,

6.3 Suggested manufacturing. The following has been found to be
a satisfactory procedure. The body should be placed in a mold and
approximately 75 g (2.64 oz) of the fuel mixture added. The mixture
should then be tamped down to present a firm, smooth surface. Ten g
(0.35 oz) of the starter mixture should be poured over the fuel mixture
and tamped again to present a firm, smooth surface. Approximately
0.5 g (0.018 oz) of matchhead mixture 1 should be added, in the center
and the whole consolidated under a minimum dead-load (see 3.4.1), using
a flat-faced ram. This information is advisory and it is understood
that the requirements of 3.6 must be met regardless of the weights of
mixtures used.
6.4 Precaution. Due to the hazards inherent in filling munitions
with chemical agents, filling installations are advised to protect
personnel from injury while filling smoke pots.
