4.3 Preproduction inspection.
4.3.1 Lot. Apreproduction lot of 200 smoke pots shall be manufactured
using the same methods, materials, equipment, and processes as will be used
during regular production.
4.3.2 Sampling.
4.3.2.1 For examination and nondestructive tests. Sampling shall be
conducted in accordance with M1L-STD-105.
4.3.2.2 For destructive test (rough handling, leakage, and functioning).
Sampling shall be conducted in accordance with MIL-STD-105 using an AQL of
1.0 percent defective. The unit of product for rough handling leakage test
shall be the individual smoke pots, not the pack.
4.3.3 Inspection procedure. Examination and test shall be in accordance
with table I (see 4.4.5). The sample taken for rough handling leakage shall
be used for functioning test. Each smoke pot shall be tested in accordance
with 4.4.4.1 (a).

4.3.4 Rough handling leakage and function test. Test shall be conducted
as follows:
(a) Pack the sample as specified. In the event of a partial pack
fill the void with fiberboard pads to form a tight pack.
(b) Drop the box eight times (one drop on each face of the box and
one drop on each of the two diagonally opposite corners of the major axis of
the box) from a height of 4 to 5 feet onto a concrete block 4± 1 inches
thick or onto a rigid steel surface.
