(c) Store the box fuze end down for a period of 48.5 ± 1.0 hours
at ambient temperature.
(d) Remove the smoke pots from the box and remove the fuze.
(e) If there is no evidence of leakage, reassembly the fuze,
and test as specified in 4.4.4.4.
4.3.5 Acceptance/rejection criteria. The preproduction lot shall
meet the examinations and tests specified herein to be acceptable. The
supplier shall obtain written approval from the contracting-officer
prior to proceeding with regular production.
4.4 Quality conformance inspection.
4.4.1 Lot. A lot shall consist of the smoke pots produced by one
manufacturer, of one interfix number, at one plant, in one unchanged
process, in accordance with the same drawings, same drawing revision,
the same specification and specification revision. However, no more than
one interfix lot of ingredients from one manufacturer shall be used in
the pyrotechnic formulation, and no more than one interfix lot of fuzes
shall be represented in any one interfix lot of finished smoke pots.
4.4.2 Sampling.
4.4.2.1 For examination and nondestructive tests. Sampling shall
be conducted in accordance with M1L-STD-105. The inspection level for
"fuel block and nozzle clearance" shall be S-4.
4.4.2.2 For destructive tests (functioning). Sampling shall be con-
ducted in accordance with M1L-STD-105, level S-4, using an AQL of
1.0 percent defective.
4.4.3 Inspection procedure. Examination and test shall be in accord-
ance with table I (4.3.3). Each smoke pot shall be tested in accordance
with 4.4.4.1 (a).
